The inspiration for Last Letter started on an airplane with a love letter to my beautiful wife. I was returning from a business trip and decided to write a letter to prepare her in the event if anything ever happened to me. There’s nothing like business travel to make you ponder your own mortality.
In my letter, I included the locations of where all of our important documents were stored, what types of investments we had, the specifics of our insurance policies, preferences on funeral arrangements, and more. Even as a trained attorney, it was difficult to think about all of the things that needed to be passed along without having a structured way to collect and organize the information.
It’s difficult enough losing a loved one. I didn’t want to burden her further with the stress of trying to find all of the things she would need if the unthinkable happened. I wanted peace of mind knowing my family would have everything they needed. I created Last Letter to make this easier.
Last Letter is a comprehensive online tool that guides you through a series of questions; the answers to which are organized and stored. Your letter can be shared with your loved ones now or left for later. You can even help an aging parent by preparing a Last Letter for them.
Last Letter helps you identify the information that is the most relevant to you and that will be needed by your family. The end result is a customized letter with detailed information and instructions that can be passed on to your loved ones or used to prepare an aging parent.
